William Sandy is a self-taught artist who learnt by watching older artists who were a part of the Papunya Tula Artists, a group which WIlliam became a part of. Some of Williams subjects include the dingo, emu, women and the pea.
William is a part of the Pitjantjatjara tribe, and the first who was a part of the contemporary art movement from this tribe. Previously working as a Police Tracker and a Health worker, the now world acclaimed artist won many awards for his works which appear in may private and public collections.
